Why did you initially enrol on the barista training?

Initially I wanted to find a new passion for something even though at the time I wasn’t much a coffee fan. Refused anything to do with coffee. However, I’m always up for a challenge and a change of environment. I also wanted to do this course to find a job (not knowing how much this course would help my cv in the future) and resulted in me getting many job opportunities. I would be lying if I said I knew exactly why I joined this course, because I didn’t, it was generally a 16 year old girl who was curious in need of experiencing something new. 

 

Tell us about your experience with Boss & Brew Academy.

Where do I even start? This course has given me a life long passion, something that excites me and makes me want to develop my skills even more. Someone may say “ugh its only coffee” but to me I see it as something that had helped grow a more creative side and also improving my mental health. The best bit is creating the cutest latte art, getting the sweetest reaction from customers. It almost feels like they share the same excitement as myself when I get a successful pour!

Overall, boss and brew academy has generally given me something new to look forward to do with people I love to spend time with. If I don’t end up opening a coffee shop in the future or get my own home coffee machine I will cry! :(

No but seriously, this course has built a more confident, more independent and strong minded individual. Without the help of boss and brew I would of never understood the importance of money, or how a business works and just generally working in hospitality.

Thank you boss and brew academy for all your blood, sweat and tears and I hope you only grow more from where you are now!
 

 

What have you been doing since the workshop?

After doing the course, a few weeks later I had received a job in the hideout cafe where I was given huge amounts of responsibility and at 16, I was closing and opening the cafe on my own and doing shifts on my own. I’ve also helped the boss boss of this course *Natalie* ;) do little workshops with other trainee and even some events for example christmas market. It has provided me with much experience and I hope to continue working in coffee shops in the future :)
